The Trace Analysis Research Centre (TARC), an internationally recognized centre for research in analytical chemistry, has been a part of the Department of Chemistry for over thirty years. Members of the Centre include the faculty and students interested in and involved with research and education in analytical chemistry. The purpose of the Centre is to promote advances in all aspects of the science of chemical measurement. To this end TARC has, over the years, sponsored international conferences in chemical analysis, participated in programs to develop centres of excellence in analytical chemistry in developing countries, promoted research in various aspects of chemical measurements, and developed modern materials and instrumentation for undergraduate education in analytical chemistry.
