The X-ray Crystallography Centre is directed by Professor Stanley Cameron. It provides a comprehensive crystallographic service, ranging from recrystallisation and crystal morphology studies through X-ray powder work and routine X-ray single-crystal structure analysis to accurate low-temperature data collection for residual electron density and deformation density investigations.
The centre is equipped with the latest high- speed Rigaku ACF5R four-circle diffractometer, a CAD4 four-circle diffractometer on a rotating anode, a Picker diffractometer, a Philips powder diffractor, an XRF system, routine photographic equipment and high/low and variable temperature (DPT) cameras.
Computing is provided by the centre's own VAX3100 M76 and maintains the current Cambridge Structure Database System and the molecular graphics and molecular mechanics system, CHEMX.
