Research Interests: Synthesis and Enzymology. 

Our mechanistic investigations into these enzymes will provide a greater understanding of how these enzymes catalyze reactions, in turn enabling us to use these catalysts to generate modified carbohydrate-containing molecules with novel biomaterial properties and altered biological activity. These approaches are of fundamental importance to develop new drugs to thwart antibacterial resistance and to generate anticancer antibiotics with improved selectivity and toxicity.
